Lies, Damn Lies and Economic Forecasts

Learn why good economic forecasters may be bad for you and why bad economic forecasts may be good for you. And how the simple experiment of flipping a coin provides insight into both while reinforcing the adage: “He who lives by the crystal ball soon learns to eat ground glass.”

Learning Objectives

1) Practical Uses of Economic Forecasts

2) Sources of Economic Forecasts

3) Framework and Examples for thinking about the future and the role of forecasting. Or, how flipping a coin repeatedly provides a framework for thinking about the forecasters who get it right.
